The Latest In Get Rich Quick – Buy A Severed Leg

A guy in North Carolina bought a used barbecue smoker at an auction last month. Once he made it home with the cooker he made a grisly discovery. A severed human leg was stuffed inside of the thing!
The man was surprised and disgusted by the leg at first, but now that he's had a chance to think things over, he now thinks this gross discovery will make him rich.
When he found the leg he called the police, and they took the leg to a funeral home. But now he wants the leg back. He plans to charge admission for people who want to see it. He's already put up signs pointing to his home.
I don't know.. but I really think this has got to be illegal on so many levels. And aside from that.. *ewww*
There's another issue with the leg too. Police located it's original owner who had the leg amputated after a plane crash and he now wants his leg back. The guy who found it in the cooker says that he bought it, fair and square, and has a receipt to prove it. He wants to try to work things out, and will even split the grand profits he plans to make off the leg with the guy who lost it, but failing that he says he'll take his case to court.
Ummkay.. WHAT case? I really doubt his receipt says that he bought a cooker AND one severed human leg.
And how did the leg get in the cooker in the first place? Talk about irresponsible. I'm not sure the original owner even deserves to have his leg back if he's going to leave it lying around in barbecue smokers.
Why not just cremate or bury the leg? Nah.. this story is from the Carolinas. That would be WAY too sane.

Sounds like that guy is trying to get a leg up on everyone! (groaner, eh?) This whole story just sounds like someone is pulling our leg….
haha.. Tim.. the guy is on our local news with this. It sounds like a joke, and I wish it was.. but it is absolutely true.
Only in the Carolinas!
So had the leg been smoked already or was it still “fresh”?
Yeah… how DID it get into
the cooker? It seems to me
the guy who the leg belonged
to in the first place could
sue the hospital where it
was amputated for faulty leg
disposal or SOMETHING…? I
know I wouldn’t want my former
leg stuffed into a BBQ cooker
and sold off.
Very bizarre story!
This is one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever written about, for sure. I have more information.
The auction that the guy bought the cooker at was an auction for a storage unit full of stuff that had been abandoned, the rent wasn’t paid so they auctioned it off.
Ok, so the guy who grew the leg and had it amputated for some reason decided to keep it. Now, I have no idea how you would keep a leg or how it was preserved or WHY you would want to keep it. Apparently it is not illegal to keep a body part if you do it for religious reasons….
So I don’t really know the condition of the leg… whether it was smoked.. or WHY it was in that smoker. Just that the hospital had nothing to do with it, it was the original owner of the leg who was careless about where he left it and then didn’t pay his storage bill.
XX(Ewww…that’s gross! I don’t care how much money he may think it’s worth, that is just gross!XX(

Yuck, yuck, yuck. Selling body parts is so illegal, disgusting and weird.
