Rubber Ducks Invade England
During a storm in 1992 a container of 29,000 rubber ducks on their way from Hong Kong to Washington fell of a ship and have been swarming around in the ocean ever since. They are now beginning to invade the shores of England.
A retired teacher in England has found one of the ducks (believed to be from the 1992 spill) on the beach covered with brown algae and barnacles. Looks like it had a little bite taken out of it's headd too. Poor ducky!
Previously some of the rubber duckies had shown up in Indonesia, Australia and South America. Scientists who have been watching them over the years to track ocean currents said they expected them in England at any time.
The ducks who have been swimming for 15 years and 17,000 miles have become a collector's item and sell for about $500 on Ebay.
