Ok, well I probably would have gotten to do some posting sooner tonight but I've been talking with the police and signing the police report and answering calls from neighbors who wanted to know if I was okay.

I'm fine. My new string trimmer is gone though. It was on my front porch with some things slated to go to Goodwill, although it wasn't going.

So, someone came up on my front porch and went through the stuff for Goodwill, although I did not invite anyone to do that, saw the new lawn and garden tool and decided they liked it. It's gone.

So for whatever good it will do, I called the police. So the police officer came here, I went outside to tell him what happened and he had a domestic violence call at the same time. So he sped off, making everyone in the neighborhood nervous.

So, he came back later and took the report, for all the good it will do. If the police didn't arrest my ex-housekeeper who made off with around $8,000 of my money, I really doubt they will do anything about a stolen string trimmer. (Yeah, at one time in my life I was well off enough to have $8,000 and a housekeeper 5 days a week... yeah.. those days are long gone.) And if the police can't figure out who ran over an 8ft lighted sign at my family's restaurant the other day, again, I doubt a string trimmer is on anybody's list of priorities. Except mine. I'm furious about it.

Thieves suck.. and so do beggars. See, I am pretty sure I know who was on my porch long enough to see the string trimmer there because this person has been going around the neighborhood begging for cash. He's been to my house twice and other neighbors have said they've had him bothering them too. The guy is in his 20's and very much able to work, but doesn't. Everyone knows exactly who he is and no one is ever happy to see him on their doorstep.

But what am I supposed to do though.. start a war in my neighborhood? The guy lives with his mother around the corner and up the street and quite honestly I am scared of them. I can't really send police up there without starting something because I didn't actually see him steal from me. It's just a situation in which I know he did it and can't prove it. So I will be calling pawn shops tomorrow to have them let me know if it shows up.. so I can go buy it back.
